Front-end developer Matteo Pieroni is enjoying being part of a fun team that is delivering outstanding work.

1. Who I am and what I do

I’m Matteo, a half-Italian/half-Swedish front-end developer at Zone.
I’ve been in London for two years now and loving the tech scene here — so many meetups, conferences and great companies to work for.

2. Why I chose to join Zone

I used to work in an agency in Italy and loved the fast-paced, dynamic environment. When I moved, my goal was to work in one of the agencies London is famous for. So, after a year as in-house developer for a big company, I was happy to find Zone and have the opportunity to work on great projects for important clients.

3. I have mainly been working on…

My team is developing a few apps that will be used by healthcare systems and companies to request and carry out genomic testing for patients.

And if the satisfaction to work on such an important project isn’t enough, I love the fact that we develop using React and lots of state-of-the-art tech tools.

4. The most important thing I have learned is…

The most important thing I have learned is that a great team values all its components, empowers its people to do the best they can, and is able to deliver outstanding work.
The culture here values listening and speaking, which means we can express our point of view and suggest solutions that we think will improve processes, user experience and the final products.

5. The most surprising thing about Zone is…

How everyone is knowledgeable and fun to be around. People here really know their craft and have lots of experience in their field, all the while being very approachable. We also like to take our time for having a chat, social events or even just a coffee together.

6. My one piece of advice for other new starters is…

Take your time to understand the project you’re working on, don’t be afraid to ask questions, and feel free to raise any concerns or suggest a different approach. Also, try to take part in social events, it’s hard to get to know new people, but it’s definitely worth it.

7. Describe Zone in three words

Friendly, groovy, brilliant.
