We were delighted to welcome Ioannis to the Zone family back in April. He tells us what he’s been up to in the world of UX since joining.
1. Who I am and what I do
I am Ioannis and I am a user experience designer at Zone. This basically means that I focus on understanding what the users need from your site/app and design solutions that will help users accomplish the tasks they need doing. I work as part of a delivery team and collaborate closely with other designers and developers.
2. Why I chose to join Zone
When I interviewed with Zone I felt that it was a very design-mature agency and the project I was hired for was very satisfying. I immediately clicked with the people as everyone here is super friendly and go out of their way to help and support each other.
Lastly, I am very fortunate to learn from other extremely talented designers and colleagues from different disciplines and have grown as a designer.
3. I have mainly been working on…
A complex healthcare project that enables clinicians to order genomic tests for patients with a rare disease or cancer. This has been a challenging but very rewarding project, knowing that when it gets rolled out the lives of thousands of patients in the UK can be improved.
4. The most important thing I have learned is…
How to be better at collaboration. We have a very collaborative culture here at Zone and we also have the necessary tools and processes in our design team that allow us to work together very efficiently across multiple locations.
5. The most surprising thing about Zone is…
How much they believe in their staff and surround them with the right environment in order to grow. This means that Zone provides access to training, all necessary tools and a safe environment where people don’t fear to fail and start over.
6. My one piece of advice for other new starters is…
Don’t hesitate to get out of your comfort zone and be involved with project areas that you haven’t had any prior experience with.
7. Describe Zone in three words
Inclusive, fun, creative.
